It is a intertidal crab species distributed along the coasts of England and the Mediterranean. Known for its unique color variation and adaptability, the body color can range from light gray to dark brown, sometimes with spots or stripes. Relatively small in size, it typically inhabits rocky pools and tidal areas, which provide abundant sources of food and shelter. It is an omnivorous animal that mainly feeds on algae, small invertebrates, and other organic matter. Plays an important role in ecosystems, helping to circulate nutrients through feeding and digestion processes, and is also a food source for many predators.
